Dancewear shoes play an important role in making sure that the dancers get through their routines without incident.  For example, if you look at the types of shoes that latin ballroom dancers wear to salsa in, you will notice that the soles of the shoes are usually smooth, which allows the dancers the ability to slide if need be.  The women will also, usually, wear a shoe that has some sort of heel to it.  High heeled shoes in this particular case are worn to bring attention to teh woman’s sexuality and attractiveness.  In a different type of arena such as breakdancing or street dancing, women and men will usually wear a shoe that has some sort of traction on the bottom, such as a rubber bottom.  It really all comes down to preference as well as what is the norm for that particular type of dance routine.
