Are credit scores different with free instant credit reports?

Everyone probably knows by now that the really important factor when you apply for loans is your credit score. The credit reporting agencies have been able to take all of the information in your credit report and simply condenser down into a single number. I know that the different agencies have different methods for computing the score, so I’m wondering if that number can be different if you get free instant credit reports versus getting one through the mail. I hope so, because my official credit score is too low to qualify for the car loans and I need — I guess I’m hoping for a miracle.
