Whiteboard for Classrooms Instead of Flipcharts

For centuries, teachers wrote on the blackboard and students took down notes.  The blackboard was the focal point in classrooms for generations.  In the past thirty years, teachers started turning away from blackboards to embrace other presentation tools.  Popular choices included flipcharts and dry erase boards.  Students were happy to see something different and teachers used the opportunity to get students interested in lessons.

Dry erase boards were neater than blackboard but still messy.  If you did not use special dry erase markers, the board would be permanently marred.  Often little children used the wrong markers, making the dry erase board useless for future lessons.  Soon teachers started uses flipcharts because they could simply throw out or store the sheet of paper when they were done.  No special markers were required and kids loved to write on flipcharts during interactive lessons.

Now educators are choosing whiteboards for classrooms over dry erase board or flipcharts.  The presentation possibilities with smart board are limited only by the teacher’s imagination.  Lessons come alive when you add images, video, music, games and other interactive elements.  Students are engaged and learn more by participating in lessons instead of passively listening to the teacher speak.

The days of paper and pencils are ending as more teachers and students interact using smart boards, laptops and a projector.  Lessons happen in real time so teachers easily recognize problem areas so they can help students before they get tested.  As a result, students are enjoying better grades and retaining more of what they learn.
