Easy-Peasy Class C CDL

AClass C CDL is easier to get than a Class B CDL, and by extension, a Class A CDL. The primary reason comes down to the size and types of vehicles involved.

A Class C CDL is defined as a vehicle that:

Is NOT a Class A or Class B commercial motor vehicle, meaning it has a maximum GCWR or GVWR of 26,000 pounds,
Can carry 16 or more passengers, including driver, or
Is placarded for hazardous materials.

In some jurisdictions other vehicles may be classed as Class C CMVs. Limousines for example require different driving skills from the average car, but they may not be designed to carry 16 passengers – and yet they might be considered Class C. Consult your local DMV to be sure.
